Warm Grass

All winter long Ridge has been asking about summer time and wondering when it will come.  He wants to be able to wear shorts, and he really wanted to lay in the warm grass.. So this week when the weather got over 60 and sunny he said mom is the grass dry, then he ran outside and laid in the warm grass..

Chop Sticks

Ridge thought these chop sticks were pretty cool and found many uses for them including swords and walrus husks..

Gift for a friend

Ridge's good buddy's birthday was on the 17th so I let him pick out a present for him.  It was fun taking Ridge shopping he wanted to get Cisco a dragon but each one he found was in the $30 range so I kept saying no, luckily we found a clearance rack and he saw this cool car kit.  Aren't they the cutest, they look so happy.

Grandpa Beck's memorial

Grandma with her 4 boys who were able to attend the memorial.
Can you tell which is from Florida. :)

Grandpa's art was displayed, he loved to experiment outside the box.  He found beauty in the natural waves of wood amongst many other talents.

Vashon Island

Sunday we ventured out to Vashon Island to visit Daniel's Aunt, Uncle, and cousins.  It was Ridge's first time on a Ferry boat where he was old enough to know whats going on.  He loved it which of course made it more exciting for us.  He liked exploring the boat to find "secret spots".

We went on a walk to a pond with Cousin Andrew, Shanon and their three girls.
Ridge and Poppy are close in age and had fun together.
It was a nice sunny day and always nice to spend time with family.

Grandpa Beck

I am not good at writing so it is only at special times that i ad my comments to this blog.  My Grandpa passed away last week.  Over the years I have had many wonderful times and lots of good memories with my grandpa.  He has always been a part of my life and a wonderful example of hard work and creativity as well as kindness to others.  I will miss Grandpa a lot, i have always lived close and it has been wonderful having such good family nearby for me as well as my son.
I know that grandpa left a legacy behind.  I think many people have been touched by his love, generosity and fun disposition.  Grandpa taught me how to chisel helped me have a greater love for art and the outdoors.  I also learned about gardening, grafting, outdoor cooking, and woodworking.  I hope that I can pass these traits on to my son.  I look forward to sharing my grandpas memories and stories with my boy as he gets older.  Some day I see myself wondering around a piece of property, working in a garden and enjoying the simple beauties all around, just like my Grandpa.

Utah Trip

My sister Tawny, her three kids; Connor, Ian, Riley and Ridge and I drove down to Farmington, Utah to visit our sister April and her six kids.  We arrived around 3am on Friday morning which was a day earlier then planned so we didn't mind the late hour. With that many kids in one house there is never a dull moment, we were always on the go with meals and clean up and whatever activities we had planned. We had a wonderful weekend together and it was so nice for all the cousins to play and get to know each other better.

Friday evening we went to the neighborhood Easter egg hunt and on the walk there one of the neighbors showed me his new baby goat and lamb, they were darling!!

Monday night we took the kids to the Rec Center for family swim night it was only $10 for everyone and it was so much fun.  There was a shallow pool and play area for the little kids, a lazy river, an awesome water slide, and a deep pool with a high dive.  I definitely wish we had a place like that here..
